Multi-Tier Scheduling & Brackets

Once a league has multiple age divisions sharing fields, scheduling stops being a spreadsheet problem and starts being a logistics problem.

Common approaches

  • Round robin: every team plays every other team once - simplest to run, best for smaller divisions
  • Pool play into brackets: teams play a pool schedule to seed a single/double-elimination bracket - common for tournament weekends
  • Divisional ladder: teams move up/down a ladder based on results - keeps games competitive across a long season

Field availability usually decides the format more than preference does - block your fields first, then fit the format to what's left.
